Multivitamin Research: Should You Be Taking Them?- Thomas DeLauer… I’m hoping that with this video I can save you some serious money and I know that sounds funny, but I’m talking about your multivitamins. I’m talking about potentially ditching your multivitamins, if you’re not someone that actually needs it. This video came to light simply because a lot of people that have talked to and a lot of people that I’ve worked with, have had a very, very hard time letting go of their multivitamins.

They take these multivitamins and they see them as their crutch. They see them as the end all be all and their link to healthy eating or the void fill from the nutrients that they’re missing from their food. But the reality is there’s a lot more to just popping a multivitamin and getting your vitamins and minerals in. So first off what I want to look at is the fact that 50% of Americans take a multivitamin.

That is a lot, a lot of people that are misled. A lot of people are leading themselves to believe that they’re getting all their vitamins and minerals and getting what they need from a simple pill. Also in reality, we have to look at how much money is being spent. We’re talking like $11 billion dollars that people are spending on multivitamins. That’s a lot of money.

Okay, so let’s talk about what is happening with a multivitamin and why it may not be the best thing for you. I’m not discounting it. I’m not saying that everyone should avoid taking a multivitamin. There are some subcategories of people that might want to take them, but I want to talk about some reality when it comes down to just popping that pill.

First thing I want to look at is too many nutrients, okay? The simple thing is we have to look at this. If our bodies have the ability to take in all these minerals and all of these vitamins at once, don’t you think there would be a food out there that truly encompasses all of them?

You see, normally we have to eat different subcategories of foods to ultimately make up our nutrients. Now, if it was so easy as just popping a pill, I think that a lot more people would be really, truly healthy and if it was really possible to absorb all those vitamins and minerals at once, I think we’d have some foods that contain all those vitamins and minerals. We have to remember that we require specific enzymatic functions to truly synthesize and utilize different vitamins, minerals, and metals within the body. Each vitamin that we take in each mineral that we take in has a different process to actually being utilized and if we take them all in at once, we’re not really allowing the body to do that efficiently.

You’re much better off knowing what is going to work for you and isolating specific vitamins and specific minerals for your type, for your bio individuality. So the thing we have to look at with multivitamins and we have this constant competition going on. Okay? We have constant competition of different minerals that sometimes need to be elevated and sometimes need to be lower, but we also have way too much of specific minerals.

  1. See I have beroca evreyday. I have it because I dislike the taste of vegetables. So isn't taking evervescent tablets better than NO vits or minerals at all .

    Ive looked at the vitimins that are 964% for example.. which yes is ridiculous… but these apparently are water soluble so will excrete in my urine

    So am I still overdosing?

  3. I will say that I had been feeling weirdly sick on keto after about being 2 months in. This was although I had been in ketosis for quite a bit of time. (Blood ketone monitoring) and just a few days ago I decided to buy animal pak multivitamins. It says big pack with just tons of everything ever in them. I had a feeling that I was missing something in my diet and that this broad spectrum vitamin would help and sure enough I couldn't tell you which thing it was that I've been missing but I started taking that huge packet of vitamins and I feel great again on keto. Like I was feeling so sick that I didn't have the time or patience to play detective with my nutrition what are you saying. For what it's worth, and it shouldn't be worth a lot, aminal pak helped me with an instant turnaround.

  4. Yeah you want to talk about money spending look at that stupid commercial golo, they say that you can simply take a pill to lower your insulin resistance and not do a starvation diet. I'm laughing to myself when I saw that commercial I lost over 40 lb through fasting how does that starvation if I'm not hungry like I used to be fasting is a type of body reset it is not starvation… it's very true to body reset because I didn't just lose weight my blood pressure under control my blood sugar is under control my heart rate is better I have more energy I feel like to work out more before I start to lose weight I had no energy I felt like I was dying

Also something to address if you get vitamins from California it has a p65 label supposedly back in 1986 there was a law enforced to have more clean drinking water they later turned this p65 nonsense as a way to not be sued by other companies for putting in chemicals that can cause cancer. There is a particular multi-vitamin brand called hello lovely and it has a p65 label… yes this p65 is used to protect companies but these products contain specially if it's something you consume it does contain chemicals that can cause cancer or reproduction issues

  6. You Have to do both, hands down, eat clean , no sugar snacks and supplement and exercise. Or you better have great health insurance and plan to die a slow miserable death.

  7. I don't take multivitamins. I learnt about bioavailable forms of vitamins and contradicting vitamins and can't find a perfect one with all quality bioavailable forms. For the "contradicting" issue, i'd have to split the vitamins anyway.

    And the annoying fact that they keep putting 1000% of vitamins in everything.

  8. It’s funny, this guy is in great shape and obviously well educated. Yet, after he references literally EVERY point he makes, the people that live unhealthy lifestyles come to the comment section to do the exact opposite from their video game chairs at home. Kind of like the comment below me from Sammy Viti.

  9. Most important vitamins for most people in the right order: D3, K2, Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C. Remember the first vitamins should be taken alongside Magnesium supplement and olive/coconut oil before noon.

  10. Hmm strange argument if we could absorb every nutrient then there would be a food to encompass all of them.
    This is a pseudo science argument at best – I thought this guy wouldn't come up with stuff like this.

  11. Hey you know that food you mentioned that has all those nutrients and vitamins. Well have you looked into moringa? Well maybe not all but yeah I'd like to see what you think.

  12. That's incorrect, if your urine is really dark it means you have a health issue such as blood in the urine or a metabolic disorder. (seek medical attention quickly)
    If your urine is yellow or lighter meaning towards white , it means you're healthy and hydrated. NOT dehydrated…… dehydration is the color orange. almost a brownish color.
